I think I needed a week's rest to be geared up for the fun-filled week we just had. We certainly crammed in a lot in five days! We started the week off with a visit from my husband, daughter, and some of our pet turtles. We selected an insect we wanted to learn about, found at least eight facts (without teacher assistance), and wrote four sentences about the insect. We had two safety assemblies with our resource officer and one anti-bullying assembly. We finished the week off by inviting our parents in for our Poetry Coffeehouse! Here are a few photos of our week:
This was a great learning experience!
So grateful to have a supportive family! :)
Students are gathering facts about their insects.
We practiced reading our poems the day prior to our Poetry Coffeehouse to a Kindergarten class.
The classroom is ready for our Poetry Coffeehouse!
We had a fire blazing and cool jazz music playing.
Our awesome Poets!
There were so many cameras going off at the same time...
I'm surprised I was able to get that many students to look my way!
*At the end of the day on Friday, I received an iPad (thanks to our generous PTO). I have spent awhile already today downloading some free apps to use in the classroom. If you have an iPad and know of any really good (free) educational apps, please either leave a comment here or email me. Thank you!!! I am so excited to use it with the students! :)
