American Symbols

I was able to get into the classroom today and retrieve my camera so that I could keep up with my weekly posts.  Although it was a short week, we were able to accomplish a lot!  

We had a great time listening to and learning from the School House Symphony!

We played Tens Go Fish.

We worked in groups to find facts about an American symbol.

Since I wasn't at school on Friday, I do not have a photo of our awesome Student of the Week; however, I will snap a photo tomorrow and make sure to get her photo added to the blog. :)

Cannot wait to get started tomorrow on all I have planned during Dr. Seuss week!!

Valentine's Day Fun

Whew, I don't know about your kids, but this kid is wiped out!  It must have something to do with having the Valentine's Day party early in the week...  Oh well, at least I have a three day weekend to rest up! :)

Last week, we had a blast preparing for Valentine's Day as well as having our party.

 On Monday, we made our parents' gift.

Healthy Teeth

We had a wonderful time last week!  Although I am unable to photograph everything that we do, I hope you are able to enjoy the moments I am able to capture!  

We met with a partner to tell them the topic we chose for our Literary Nonfiction books and three facts we know about our topic.

 We worked on fractions.

We had a blast and learned a lot during our science eggsperiment about healthy teeth*.

And we watched a video on Brainpop Jr. about caring for your teeth.

*Some of the packet used for our Science Eggsperiment came from Cara Carroll's Dental Health Mini Unit.

100 Days Smarter!

What a wonderfully exhausting week!  It was great to see so many parents Monday and/or Wednesday night for conferences.  I told the students that it is no surprise that I have such an awesome class since they all have such awesome parents!  Thank you for taking the time to chat about your child.  Besides preparing for conferences, I also prepared for our 100th day of school.  I cannot believe how fast this year is going!!  I took quite a few photos, and it was difficult to decide which not to post, so I hope you enjoy all of them as much I do.

 Love those 100 glasses!  Looks like one student lost hers right as I was snapping the photo...
