Happy Thanksgiving

We sure did have a lot of fun the two days we were in school

 before Thanksgiving break!

Here is a sampling of some of the fun we had:

We made Pilgrim hats!

 Of course, we had to have a 'silly pose'!

We made butter.

Later, we got to taste the butter!

The butter wasn't too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Had to add this one simply because of the cuteness factor!

We also began learning about subtraction in Math 

and finished our Question and Answer books in Writer's Workshop.

I am looking forward to seeing their timelines on Wednesday.

The Lives of Pilgrims

This week, we learned a lot about the lives of Pilgrims, 

focusing more on Pilgrim children.  

Don't forget on Monday, students should dress as close as they can to a Pilgrim. We will make Pilgrim hats and participate in activities similar to Pilgrims long ago.  

In Math, we played lots of fun addition games, including Dot Addition.

Thank You Veterans!

This week seemed to have flown by!  I was able to capture a few photos of students sharing their Question and Answers books during Writer's Workshop, playing Counters in a Cup in Math, making our soldiers for Veterans Day, and our Veterans Day Celebration.  After we wrapped up our discussion of Veterans Day, we wrote letters to two veterans that attended our school assembly, thanking them for their service.

are heroes because..." and then made a soldier.

One of our students welcomed two baby brothers to his family on November 8th.

Pleasant Parents

It was such a pleasure this week seeing and talking with parents (and grandparents) during Guests for Lunch and conferences.
