About Me

My photo
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June 2009. I began my wonderful career teaching first grade shortly thereafter, in August 2009. In June 2016, I completed my Masters with the focus in Reading grades K-6th grade. This will be my sixth year utilizing a blog and hope that it will provide parents with another avenue to view their child's accomplishments throughout the school year.

A Beautiful Day for a Field Trip

I must have been so busy last week, that I didn't have time to take photos of everything we did!  Seriously, that is my reason. ;)  I did make sure to take some photos of our time at Sawyer Point.  The students behaved wonderfully on Friday and fun was had by all.  I must say that Annie Jr. ranks up there as one of my favorite shows at Taft Theater.  Thank you to all of our awesome chaperones!!!

Writing and Harvest Celebration

What a wonderfully busy week we had in room 105!  We published our first narrative writing that we've been working on during the first half of unit 1.  We continue to learn about how to compose and decompose shapes.  We also had a fabulous time during our Harvest Day Celebration!  A huge thank you to all of the parents who donated items and/or their time to make this event successful!
We continue to show what we 'can do' at Literacy Stations.
Inside Recess...it can be fun! :)

I promise, no bribes were given for these awesome writings!

Geometry Fun!

We began our 2nd Unit in Math, Geometry, which is always a fan favorite!  We are also getting very close to completing our first Narrative Writing.  We've been working so hard on them, I'm looking forward to hearing their final published books!

Our New Reading Program

We've been very busy these past two weeks!  Some of the many things we were up to:  we began our new reading program, went to a fun Duke Energy assembly, and learned lots about fire safety from one of our first grader's dad!  Here are a few photos from the past couple weeks:
