About Me

My photo
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June 2009. I began my wonderful career teaching first grade shortly thereafter, in August 2009. In June 2016, I completed my Masters with the focus in Reading grades K-6th grade. This will be my sixth year utilizing a blog and hope that it will provide parents with another avenue to view their child's accomplishments throughout the school year.

Young Scientists

This past week we continued to learn new Literacy Stations and showed what we 'Can Do' in them, we played some fun games in Math as we practiced combining two numbers, and we used our senses as we observed and recorded our observations of nature.  Here are some photos from our wonderful week!

Cooperative Learning

This past week we were introduced to two more Literacy Stations, listed what we can do, and then practice how to use them.  We also continued to work together during Math Workshops.  The best sounds I get to hear are students working together as they learn!  Here are a few photos from our week:
Literacy Stations:  Game Station & More

 Math Workshop:  Compare
Literacy Stations:  Computer Station, Listening Station, & More

Math Workshop:  Ordering Numbers

This upcoming week is one of my many favorites...we will begin our What is a Scientist? unit.

The First Two Weeks in Room 105

The students are officially 9 days smarter!  We've had a wonderful first two weeks of school.  I want to thank all of the parents for coming to Parent Information Night, completing the mounds of beginning of the year paperwork, and ensuring we have all of the classroom supplies needed.

Here are some photos to show what we've been up to the first two weeks of school (I'm still waiting on one more consent form, but I think I have enough photos that I'm able to share):

We explored our Math tools.

We played Find a Friend.

We played Collect 20.
We showed what it looked and sounded like to read independently.

We showed what we 'Can Do' at the ABC/Word Station

We built staircases.

I'm looking forward to an awesome week three!

Week One is in the Books!

We had a great first week of school!  As soon as I receive the last few consent forms, I will post some photos of our week.  Until then, enjoy this last day of our much needed long weekend. ;)
I look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday night, September 3rd at 7pm for Parent Information Night.
