About Me

My photo
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June 2009. I began my wonderful career teaching first grade shortly thereafter, in August 2009. In June 2016, I completed my Masters with the focus in Reading grades K-6th grade. This will be my seventh year utilizing a blog and hope that it will provide parents with another avenue to view their child's accomplishments throughout the school year.

Wow, what a very cold week we experienced!  The weather this winter has been so bizarre.  Last Tuesday, we had a high temperature of 15 and this Tuesday they are forecasting a high of 60?  Besides being stuck inside the building all day, we did have a great week!  Here are some photos of a few things we did:

We read Martin's Big Words by Doreen Rappaport
and then made a text-to-self connection.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream.  His dream was...
I have a dream too.  I dream...

We made rugs showing fourths.

This is why I LOVE Math Investigations!
8x8-54=10; 4x4-6=10  Love it!

Polar Bears

What a great week we had last week!  It was a joy for me to have my daughter come to the classroom on Friday.  It never ceases to amaze me what a wonderful job she does with students.  As you can tell, I'm one proud Momma!  Here are some photos from our great week.
More Measuring:
Basketball Player Steps, Baby Steps, & Craft Sticks
Read A Snowy Day By, Ezra Jack Keats
Then, made a class book...

Not sure why these photos loaded sideways...I cannot figure out how to rotate them!

Ready For Polar Bear Learning!
Where do polar bears live?
How thick is their blubber?  What color is their skin?
What color is their fur?
Demonstrating how well their blubber keeps them warm in icy water.
