About Me

My photo
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June 2009. I began my wonderful career teaching first grade shortly thereafter, in August 2009. In June 2016, I completed my Masters with the focus in Reading grades K-6th grade. This will be my seventh year utilizing a blog and hope that it will provide parents with another avenue to view their child's accomplishments throughout the school year.

Walk-a-Thon Reward

This week we got our classroom reward for having 100% participation in our classroom for the Walk-a-Thon.  We had a blast eating lunch and listening to some Kidz Bop in our room.  Here are a few photos from our week:

My Teammate ~ Educator of the Year!

Even though she moved to third grade this year, I will forever consider Shannon Langston my teammate!  My students have heard so much about her, so I thought I'd post a few photos from the Dinner of Excellence last night.

Poetry Coffeehouse

We had such a wonderful time reciting our poems at our Poetry Coffeehouse.  It was great to see how many family members were able to attend.  We also were thinking of our friends in grades 3-6 that will begin taking the OAAs on Monday.  Here are some photos from our week:
Good Luck Signs for OAAs
We generated ideas as a class what we should write to the students
in grades 3-6.  We broke into groups, wrote, and decorated our signs.  We delivered our signs to classrooms on Friday.
Poetry Coffeehouse Practice
After our first run through w/o an audience, we rehearsed
for a kindergarten and third grade class.
Thank you to Mrs. Baker & Mrs. Langston for squeezing us in your busy schedules!

It was so wonderful to have the whole class back together again after our spring break!  We got a lot accomplished in our four day week.  We our continuing to write wonderful poems, working hard on counting and writing numbers, learned lots of facts about chickens, and are gearing up for our annual Walk-a-Thon.  Here are a few photos from this past week:
